We send a reminder about your second maternal blood test which needs to be taken 6 months after your baby is born and ideally before your child's first birthday.

You will also receive:

• An annual newsletter at your home address.
• Quarterly email newsletters will be sent to your email address.

The Smart Cells website is updated weekly with news and information.

If your child's stem cells need to be retrieved, they can be sent direct to a transplant centre anywhere in the world. We use special transplant containers which maintain the cryogenic temperatures for long periods of time, ensuring they arrive in a viable condition exactly as they were stored in the laboratory.

There is a specific process controlled by the Human Tissue Authority governing the release of a sample.

Although we store the stem cells on your behalf, they remain the property of the child's Mother or legal guardians. Once your child reaches legal age, the samples become their property.

After 25 years, we offer three options:

• continue storing
• donate to a public bank
• discard the cells
