Clinical Applications of Stem Cell Research in the Far East

Meetings hosted by the stem cell network of the Asia Pacific region are determined to bring scientists, researchers, and others in the medical field together in the Pacific region to attend workshops and seminars on stem cell research. Such meetings will focus on clinical applications, and commercialization issues for culturing and differentiating stem cells and stem cell use in research.
Such plans to initiate seminars and workshops will help to highlight stem cell research programs as well as the achievements in the Asia-Pacific region. Japan has one of the highest growth rates of successful stem cell laboratories in Asia. However, the popularity of stem cell research in other Asian countries such as China, Korea, Singapore, and Australia has brought attention to the need of a network of experts in that area to propel and lead such research.

Another function of this network of experts will be to help serve as a source of information on both real and clinical applications for stem cell research. In particular, researchers and scientists in China, India, and Thailand need help and support among the stem cell research community.

While there is a lot of information available, especially through the World Wide Web, much of that information is faulty. One of the organizers of the meeting of the stem cell network of the Asia-Pacific region in Singapore recently voiced his concern that the ability to inform people where science actually stands is important, since there is a lot of misinformation released on a daily basis, especially when it comes to stem cell research.
