Meetings hosted by the stem cell network of the Asia Pacific region are determined to bring scientists, researchers, and others in the medical field together in the Pacific region to attend workshops and seminars on stem cell research. Such meetings will focus on clinical applications, and commercialization issues for culturing and differentiating stem cells and stem cell use in research.

Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, or CML, is one of the cancers involving more mature cells than in the acute type of leukemia, and accounts for approximately 25% of adult leukemia’s with an adult onset of around 40 years of age. While white blood cells are important for the immune system in individuals, Leukemia causes an abundance of dysfunctional and immature white blood cells in the circulation.

Stem cell research is a development within the medical and scientific community that has engendered great concerns on both moral and ethic grounds for its use. However, since recent developments such as the fact that skin cells can be used for non-embryonic stem cell research and development, as well as the capabilities of the umbilical cord stem cells in the development of treatments and research purposes, researchers around the globe have received what fairly equates to a green light from general population from around the world.
