Because of the outstanding advancements that have been made in stem cell and embryonic stem cell research in the past year, researchers as well as many politicians believe the time has come to change the policy on stem cell research. The advancements in both embryonic and non-embryonic stem cell research have continued to create interesting and favorable results for the future of stem cell research to be created to help regenerate bodies tormented by bone, blood, and organ tissue damage.
Recent surveys have shown that the majority of Americans are in favor of federally funded non-embryonic stem cell research, as is a majority of Congress. In addition to the growing popularity of such non-embryonic stem cell research, is the use of stem cell banks to store umbilical cord blood against the need for future use.

Because of the promising results of so many discoveries within the recent past, people in the medical and research fields as well as laypersons are beginning to understand the huge potential that stem cell research has in providing possible cures and treatments for diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, arthritis, diabetes, and various forms of cancer.

While the battle over ethical and moral standards and beliefs over the use of embryonic stem cells continues, the development and direction in using adult stem cells for the development of future research protocols has gained nearly limitless support. Because of this, Americans will be watching to see where both politics and medical research will take us.
