Stem Cells and Advancement in Therapy Print E-mail
In recent years, there have been major developments in the use of umbilical cord blood stem cells. Using umbilical cord blood from newborn babies has been the key in developing and learning how to overcome some of the common diseases and illnesses that still have no cure.  The reason why stem cells are so valuable is because they have the ability to develop into any type of cell that can be used for particular part of body or organ.
In the past, the use of stem cells has been considered controversial, but now umbilical cord blood cells are being used to conquer illnesses and diseases such as liver or kidney disease, and diabetes. By taking stem cells and transplanting them where they are needed, they can continue to produce healthier cells to reduce the risk of illness or disease when the body is unable to fight it on its own.
Researchers in the medical field have already been using stem cell therapy for a variety of procedures. Doctors are using stem cells to repair lungs, kidneys and also prevent degenerative diseases. Research has shown that using stem cells can also aid in the treatment of lupus, and is continuing to provide information in attempts to find cures for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.
Scientists are optimistic about the future of stem cell therapy and the ability of those cells to reduce many diseases and illnesses that are crippling so many people. With further research it may be shown the stem cell therapy can reduce any type of ailment, as well as cures for cancer.
