Smart Cells processingWhen the sample arrives at our laboratory, it is analysed to determine the quality and quantity of stem cells in your baby's cord blood. Smart Cells measure four key markers:
Firstly, the blood is separated and the stem cells are captured using a regulated centrifugal technique. The sample is then assessed and we have a defined success criteria with a clear borderline policy. Samples ready for storage are treated to protect the cells from the freezing process and then they are hermetically sealed in a closed system, sterile pouch. This is then placed in an aluminium cassette. |
