Smart Cells cord blood storage - 25 Years

All our samples are stored in sealed pouches not vials.  

Successful samples have a Certificate of Storage issued with the key sample information for your reference should you need the sample in the future.

The sample is split into two units for flexibility of use. Your samples are stored in a closed system within vaults at temperatures of below -180°C. Below -135°C the cell ageing process is halted, allowing the long term preservation and storage of cells.

We only store our samples in one location. 

If the cord blood is needed for a transplant there are extra risks involved in assembling the units, including the risks of mislabelling, risks of damage to part of the sample in transit including termperature changes not being controlled, risks of manipulation to re-assemble the units into one unit, time taken to achieve the above. These risks far outweigh the potential of damage to the samples in our highly secure and regulated partner laboratory. 

We store all samples in the vapour phase of liquid nitrogen, in a secure environment which is continually monitored and alarm protected. Our partner laboratory exceeds all UK and EU regulations and we are the only facility in the UK with a registered medical storage device approved for transplant services.

Depending on the service package you choose you can choose to prepay for up to 25 years storage.
