We will send you all the information and a maternal blood sample kit with your baby's umbilical cord collection kit.Smart Cells International performs maternal blood screening using a real-time Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method.

With PCR testing, it is possible to amplify a single copy of a piece of DNA across several orders of magnitude, generating millions of copies of the DNA piece. PCR testing therefore allows for accurate diagnosis of underlying conditions which may not be currently clinically active, but have a likliehood of developing in the future.

PCR testing is a very sensitive technology which allows for earlier and more specific detection of active infections in blood than conventional serology tests.
