Smart Cells was delighted to participate in the 30th European Congress of Perinatal Medicine (EAPM 2026), held in Warsaw, Poland, from 16th –19th September 2026.

Smart Cells at the 30th European Association of Perinatal Medicine (EAPM) Congress 2026
The European Congress of Perinatal Medicine brings together specialists and researchers from across Europe and beyond to share knowledge and discuss developments in obstetrics, fetal medicine, neonatology and perinatal care.
For Smart Cells, one of the highlights of this year’s congress was the session “Stem Cells in Obstetrics and Gynaecology: From Science to Clinical Practice”, which focused on the potential use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in obstetrics and gynaecology.
The session featured:
- Prof. Daniel Surbek, MD, PhD
- Jakub Rzepka, MD, PhD
- Tomasz Baran, MD

We were particularly proud to see Dr Tomasz Baran, CEO of Smart Cells and Chief Medical Officer of FamiCord Group, invited to contribute to the session and share insights into the clinical applications and experience of the FamiCord Group.

From research to clinical possibilities
MSCs continue to be an important area of research in regenerative medicine. Their unique biological properties have led researchers to investigate their potential across a wide range of medical fields, including applications relevant to obstetrics and gynaecology.
Sessions such as this provide an important opportunity to bring together scientific research and clinical experience, while exploring how developments in stem cell science could contribute to future approaches to healthcare.
For Smart Cells, staying close to the scientific and medical community is an important part of what we do. It allows us to keep up to date with emerging research, exchange knowledge with experts in the field and better understand how advances in stem cell science may translate into future clinical practice.
Connecting our teams across the Smart Cells Group
Smart Cells was represented at EAPM 2026 by colleagues from both our UK and UAE teams, including Simon Tsoi, Commercial Director at Smart Cells UK, and Hadeel, Country Manager at Smart Cells UAE.
Their participation provided a valuable opportunity to hear directly from leading specialists, learn more about the latest developments in perinatal medicine and MSC research, and connect with healthcare professionals from across Europe and beyond.
The congress also reflects the wider purpose of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine: promoting research and knowledge in perinatal medicine and encouraging collaboration between the different disciplines involved in caring for mothers and babies.

Continuing to follow the science
As part of FamiCord Group, Smart Cells is committed to remaining connected with developments in stem cell research and regenerative medicine.
We are proud to have participated in EAPM 2026 and especially pleased to see our Group’s medical expertise represented as part of the scientific programme.
Events like EAPM give us the opportunity not only to share our experience, but also to learn from the wider scientific community as research continues to explore the future possibilities of stem cells and regenerative medicine.
We look forward to continuing these conversations and following the science as the field develops.
